| How
it Works...
Plant
a tree in the name of a loved one or in memory of a departed
family member or friend.
Guidelines...
•
Oak Bay Parks Services reserves the right to determine tree
species, location and size. Every effort will be made to accommodate
the donor’s wishes, however, the tree must be aesthetically
pleasing and appropriate to the existing landscape and future
landscape plans.
•
The Parks staff will plant the tree.
•
Trees must be suitable to the landscape and must be hardy
enough to tolerate park activities and vandals.
•
Time of planting will be determined by the Parks staff, taking
into consideration our time requirements and the appropriate
time of season to plant trees to ensure their survival. The
donor will be notified of the date and time of the planting.
• Parks
Services has the sole responsibility for the care and maintenance
of trees after planting.
• Parks
Services assumes the responsibility for the survival of trees
planted for one year. If the tree dies, it will be replaced
in the current year.
• In
our effort to keep our parks aesthetically pleasing and easy
to maintain, stone monuments or signs are not allowed next
to the donated tree. A Master Listing of donated trees is
maintained on the municipal website.
